I thought that I should title this post something other than “Life Updates” because I think there are already enough posts with similar titles to that on the blog already, so if you were wondering.. now you know! And yes that is incredibly lame that I feel a need to explain my silly post title, I will make a note to never do that again in the future, haha.
We finally had our consultation with the augmentative communications department people, and discovered that dun.. dun.. dun.. we are on a ONE AND A HALF YEAR waiting list to get into the program. HA! And here we are thinking that it’s going to be just a year, boy, were we ever wrong! But the good news there is that we already have similar devices and programs that we use at home compared to what they will use in their program, so we are ahead of the game in a sense. Or maybe just don’t really need them at all? It’s debatable.
Also, I just had to add the word “need” into the dictionary for the spell checker… that’s a little weird, right? Yeah, I thought.
We have a family friend that is going to school to become a teacher and has to have so many volunteer hours for the program, and she miraculously has agreed to spend some of those hours helping our son out with his speech issues. YES! This silly 45 minutes a week deal with a speech therapist just isn’t cutting it, we have been thinking that our son would benefit from having private tutor-like sessions for quite a while now, so this is amazing news! I’m not sure when she is planning on starting, or any of those details yet, but I look forward to her starting and seeing what progress our son will make because of it.
Continuing with speech news, today is the last meeting with our son’s current speech therapist, so he will probably have about 6 weeks off now without attending regular speech therapy. The place where he goes has been having issues with staffing, and the current therapist was someone that they called in to help out for a short contract, we had her for about 10 weeks and now we are back to waiting for another therapist to have time to see us.
Bloglovin got a little makeover and now their bar is at the top of the page, instead of the bottom like it has been forever, and I’m uber confused by the change. lol. Just a little something else to get used to, I guess? Random.
