Ultimate Blog Challenge Wrap-Up

I’ve done it, I managed to post 31 times and complete this month’s Ultimate Blog Challenge on time! I started way behind everyone else (10 days behind!) so I had a lot of catching up to do, having to post 1-3 times each day just to be able to finish the challenge on time, but I’m so proud of myself for completing it!

Here’s my list of UBC pros and cons:

PRO:

  • Got used to posting multiple times per day.
  • This blog received a lot of post content!
  • More content = Hopefully lots more traffic coming in the future
  • I experienced some great free writing skills, didn’t have much trouble thinking of what to post.
  • Got to be part of a community, because of that I received a bunch of traffic and comments.
  • Had lots of fun leaving comments and promoting other UBC member posts and blogs.

CON:

  • Because I started the challenge late, I didn’t get to practice scheduling posts in advance.
  • Also related, I didn’t have the time to really plan out topics in advance.
  • Would have liked to include more #blogboost links on each post, but had to stop because of lack of time.

My summary: I loved participating in the Ultimate Blog Challenge, my only regret was not knowing about it in advance to start the challenge on the first on the month. I still plan to post every day in February, but to make better use of my time as far as scheduling posts in advance and make myself an editorial calendar to plan out posts and topics ahead of time. I also still plan to tweet new posts (and promote old ones!) on twitter, and continue linking to other blogs and leaving comments whenever I can. This was a great experience and I would recommend participating in the Challenge to all other bloggers!

I’m Missing Out on Money!

It becomes more and more obvious to me every day that I’m losing out on paid blogging income because I’ve been slacking with getting most of my domains set up and running, and that none of them are old enough yet or have enough traffic. I figure I could probably be earning at least $100 a week via paid blogging if only I had my things in order like they should be.

So I need to get every blog I have (uhmm.. yeah, 5 of them!) set-up with an appropriate theme and start blogging on each and every single one of them at least once a week. I need to start getting them established and at least trying to get traffic, of course I’ll still be focusing on getting 5+ posts a week on this blog, and on at least one of the other ones. I really need to focus on getting my act together!

Project 365 Thoughts

I’m doing a Project 365 (photo a day) challenge for the first time ever this year, I post each week’s photos over on craftdiary.com usually on the following Sunday or Monday.

I just finished posting week four’s photos, and this week is the first time that I’ve missed a day of taking a photo! I’m feeling pretty frustrated at myself about it, I thought I could easily make it the first whole month without missing any days, and I almost did!

So now my goal is to make it through February without missing any more photos, I figure that it’ll be a lot easier to just concentrate on it one month at a time, or even easier to just focus on one week at a time.

P.S. There’s a photo of my son’s feet splattered in yellow food coloring over there, you might wanna go check it out!

Strange People.

I recently stumbled across a couple of different blogs about making money online, blogs made by people who want to earn serious money online, as in more than enough to pay housing costs every month. It’s the way they are earning the money, the sites that they use, that really strikes me as strange.

These people are trying to earn all their money by using sites like Swagbucks, using paid survey sites, and doing 15 minute long tasks looking up phone numbers for a mere 3 cents. No paid blogging, no paid article writing. Surely, these people can’t be serious??

I don’t get it, all you have to do is a simple “earn money online” search with google and you can find much better ways to earn money, and ways that are a lot easier and better paying too!!

The Washer is Broken Again

We have one of those stackable washer and dryer sets in our basement, the washer is a front loader which means that once you’re done using it you have to leave the door open so that some of the water sitting at the bottom can evaporate. If you don’t leave the door open, then the next time that you come down to use it, it’s going to smell all moldy and gross.

Today the spin cycle on the washer decided to break again, it only spins around 2-3 times and stops.. so once it turns off and you open the door to put the stuff in the dryer, everything is absolutely soaked! So wet that it’s not even worth putting the stuff in the dryer, it’d take the dryer all day to get the stuff dry. Ugh.

This is the second time in the last 2 or 3 months that the spin cycle on the washer has stopped working, the last time my husband and father-in-law were able to get it working again. This time, I’m hoping that it’s time to get a new washer and dryer!
